Float Line in China
In September 2007, Henry F. Teichmann began the construction of the second of two 600 MTPD float glass lines at Shandong Glass Group in Zibo, Shandong Province, China. This plant will be able to produce PPG quality automotive and architectural glass. This project was also a joint operation between HFT and PPG Industries. Henry F. Teichmann's responsibilities include turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction supervision. HFT also supervises the heat-up and start-up of the lines. PPG provides float glass technology, training and licensing.
HFT signed agreement with Baltic Glass to build multiple lines of premium float glass production facilities in Russia. These production lines will be designed and operated under PPG licensing agreement with Baltic Glass. The first two lines, which are to be built in St. Petersburg, will utilize oxy-fuel technology. HFT has successfully converted two float furnaces in the United States to oxy-fuel for PPG.
