CPS Solar Glass Plant + Sand Processing

Owner: Canadian Premium Sands
Delivery Method: Fixed Price
Project Value: $400 Million

MANITOBA, CANADA

HFT was engaged by Canadian Premium Sands (CPS) on a turnkey basis to design, engineer, supply and construct North America’s first rolled solar glass manufacturing facility. The project also includes development of a sand processing plant to process low-iron sand at CPS’s mine, located approximately 180 km from the glass manufacturing site.

HFT was initially engaged under a pre-construction contract to provide value engineering, develop the preliminary facility design and establish the project execution plan. For the execution phase, HFT partnered with a major building and civil contractor to deliver the project under a single turnkey contract.

As CPS is a new entrant to the glass manufacturing industry, HFT will also provide comprehensive start-up and operational support, including training and long-term operational assistance.
